What is your real motivation for exercising?

What is your real motivation for exercising?

“I want to be in the pool on holidays!”

This is exactly what a client of mine said recently when I asked her why she was starting training with me.

Going deeper into the story, she told me the story of how since her baby was born, she hadn’t been swimming with her son as she was too embarrassed to get into a swimming costume.

She was too embarrassed of what other people thought of her and how she looked.

She really wanted to swim with her son and have fun in the pool without worried about how she looked.

So what is your true motivation?

Most people simply say ‘I want to lose weight and tone up’. Or ‘I want to drop a few pounds’.

But what is your real burning desire?

To answer this you need to ask ‘why?’

Why do you want to lose a few pounds?

Why do you want to lose weight and tone up?

Do you have a special event coming up?

Are you catching up with friends you haven’t seen for a while?

You need to really think about the why!

It is like peeling an onion. Hopefully without the tears though.

You need to keep peeling back the layers to really find out what you want to achieve and why you really want to achieve it.

It is when you find out the why, you will start to really find that motivation to get moving.

You need to dig deep to find the real motivation.

Once you have found your true motivation, you will feel that burning desire to get to where you want to go.

You will stop at nothing to get there.

You will do everything in your power to get there.

So what are you waiting for, start digging!!
