This is what I said when my wife was pregnant with my daughter.
You see everyone was saying how tired I would be when my baby came along.
How exhausted I would be.
How downright knackered I would be.
And my reaction. “I’ll be right!” What do they know. I am young(ish), fit and full of energy. Surely how hard could it be? I mean, I have had late nights before and functioned ok.
Little did I know…
One night, you can handle. A couple? Sure it gets a bit hard but you can cope with that.
But, months and months of not sleeping through the night!! Hell! Absolute hell!
Walking around in a daze at work. Stumbling through the day just trying to stay awake. Sounding like I was drunk even though I had no alcohol in my system at all…
Not pretty!
In fact I remember actually cancelling an early morning client of mine just so I could have that one extra hour in bed.
BTW, this is something I never do which makes it even more unbelievable.
When you have only had three hours sleep for as long as you remember, the opportunity to increase your sleep by 25% becomes very tempting. That one more hour…mmmm.
So how do you survive?
How do you get through the day?
You have no choice. You just do.
And you?
How was it for you?
The fact that you are reading this email shows that you are at least half awake. Or you have been through this time and are out the other side of it.
And exercise?
That is the last thing on your mind. You know that you should do something, but how can you as you have no energy at all.
If you did any exercise, surely that would make you feel worse. Or would it?
Did you know that some exercise can actually make you feel better? It can actually give you more energy rather than taking it away.
Sure, if you do some high intensity level type exercise, it can make you feel knackered.
But by keeping the intensity at the right level what happens is that you create energy for yourself. And not just the endorphin release that you get from exercise. I’m talking about a long lasting energy that helps you get through the day, even on three hours sleep.
By the way, this is just how the early stages of The Yummy Tummies Foundations Programme starts off. It helps you to create energy in the initial stages when you need it the most. It then builds on this bit by bit to help you reclaim your body.
You can check it out here…
Yummy Tummies Foundation Programme
So when you are dragging yourself through the day, not knowing if you will make it until the next feeding time without falling asleep, try just doing a little bit of exercise. Keep it simple, keep it relatively easy and create a little bit of energy to help you get through the day.
