At the weekend I was at a good friend’s wedding.

It was a lovely affair with lots of kids and really nice people.

The food was great, as was the wine, until I tried something that didn’t agree with me.

Don’t get me wrong, the food was amazing, but I just had some thing that wasn’t right for me.

You see my stomach doesn’t really tolerate wheat and gluten too well.

But it was a lovely occasion and I thought I would just try this lovely pasta dish because it looked great.

And it did taste great.  It was amazing, until…

About half an hour later my stomach was getting a bit uncomfortable.  Then came the cramps.

Then came the bloating.  For me my stomach just swells to the point that I look pregnant.

A bit embarrassing when people ask me what I do for a living.  When I say I’m a personal trainer, that take one look at my swollen belly and I can hear them thinking “yeah right”.

Food intolerances can be painful, uncomfortable and downright embarrassing.

And you?

Do you suffer from any food intolerances?

Do you get any symptoms that are uncomfortable?

Food intolerances can swing from one extreme to the next.

On one hand it can be the bloating, discomfort and pain that comes with it.

On the other hand some people may just feel a little lacking in energy or a touch fatigued.

And how do you find out if you may have any?

You could always go down the testing route and get medical tests done.  Or you could simply strip your food back to the very basics taking out the wheat, gluten, dairy, caffeine and eat very clean for each least a couple of weeks.

Thirty days would be best.

By the way, this is a great way to lose a couple of pounds anyway…

You then introduce the foods back into your diet one by one and see if you feel better or worse after eating them.

Ok this process takes a little while to get right, but it will be worth it once you have worked out which foods work for you and which ones don’t.

Give it a try and as I said, it may even help to lose a couple of pounds…:-)

Take care and good luck,
